Learning & Growing Day By Day

Roadrunner Families,

Where did September go?! We have very nearly wrapped up another wonderful month of learning, growth, and community connection.
  • Fond Farewell to Officer Love:Β A huge thank you to Officer Love from the Fair Oaks Ranch Police Department for hisΒ Β presence and support on campus over the past two weeks! We are so grateful for his dedication to keeping our school safe and wish him all the best in his well-deserved upcoming retirement.
  • Roadrunner Raves:Β We love catching our students being awesome! Staff members have been shouting out "Roadrunner Raves" to recognize students who demonstrate kindness, hard work, and great character. Be sure to check out the photos below of all our recognized students!
  • Welcome Back, Chickens!Β Our feathered friends have officially returned to the school coop! The students are thrilled to have them back on campus, and our Chicken Tenders will soon be in full swing once again.

REMINDER:Β Toys, squishies, stuffies, and the like should not be brought to school unless your student's teacher has communicated a reward day. Our teachers appreciate your assistance with helping students stay focus and ready to learn in class!

Thank you for your continued partnership as we head into October. Before you kick back for the weekend, consider a quick trip to a local library to help your student pick out their next great read. Happy reading, and have a fantastic weekend!

With gratitude,
Mrs. Walker

Β
Nurse Header
Parents - we have seen an early rise in illness across Boerne ISD. We need your help in attempting to prevent the unnecessary spread to other students/families. As a reminder, students will need to be excluded from school when they meet the following criteria in accordance with guidelines from the Texas Department of State Health Services:
  • Fever > 100.3Β° F - may return when fever free for 24 hoursΒ without the use of fever reducing medications
  • Diarrhea - may return after 24 hours without diarrhea
  • Vomiting - may return after 24 hours without vomiting
  • Pink eye - may return when symptom free or when released by medical provider
  • Strep throat - must be on antibiotic for 24 hours and meet fever criteria
In addition, please use your best judgement when it comes to your student. We understand that not all students develop a fever with certain illnesses. If your child is showing signs/symptoms of illness, is not feeling well and/or requires treatment with medication prior to coming to school, we ask you to consider if it will interfere with their instruction time or classroom environment. While instruction time is extremely important, it is also important that your student feel well enough to attend and successfully participate.

Per district policy, If the student is sick at home, the district allows for 5 excused absences for illness by parent note per semester. Anything over 5 "sick" absences from a parent will be unexcused. Excuse notes from a physician will always be considered excused as documented by the physician's return to school date.Β

If a student becomes sick while at school, they need to report to the school nurse. The nurse will determine if the student needs to be excused due to illness. The parent/guardian will be contacted, asked to come and sign out for the student. If the student is sent home by the nurse, the absence is considered excused for the remainder of the day. Subsequent absences will be considered upon the student's return with a parent or doctor's note.

Should the nurse choose to NOT send the student home due to illness, and the parent chooses to sign their student out, the absence is unexcused until a parent's note is received.
