About Van Raub Elementary

Van Raub Elementary is a vibrant learning community in Boerne Independent School District where strong academics, meaningful relationships, and a commitment to every child come together.

Since opening our doors in 2018, Van Raub Elementary has built a tradition of excellence centered on high expectations, student growth, and a genuine sense of belonging. Our Roadrunners are encouraged to think critically, communicate confidently, embrace challenges, and develop the skills and character they need to become lifelong learners.

A Tradition of Academic Excellence

Academic excellence is a defining part of the Van Raub experience. Van Raub Elementary earned an A rating from the Texas Education Agency since 2021, reflecting the dedication of our students, educators, families, and community. While we are proud of these results, achievement at Van Raub is about more than a score. Our classrooms are designed to challenge and support learners at every level through engaging instruction, collaboration, creativity, problem-solving, and opportunities for students to take ownership of their learning. We believe excellence means helping every Roadrunner discover what they are capable of—and giving them the tools, encouragement, and opportunities to keep growing.

Rooted in Our Community

Although Van Raub Elementary opened in 2018, the name Van Raub connects our school to a much longer piece of local history. The historic community of Van Raub was established along the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway in 1884 and was named for Van Raub Byron, owner of the community's first local business. By 1885, the growing settlement had established a church, a school, a cotton gin, and even its own weekly newspaper. More than a century later, Van Raub Elementary carries that historic name forward. What began as a small Texas community with a school at its heart is reflected today in a modern learning community serving families in the rapidly growing Texas Hill Country. We are proud to honor those roots while preparing our students for the future.

One of Van Raub Elementary's greatest strengths is the community within our walls. Our students and families bring a growing range of cultures, backgrounds, languages, experiences, and traditions to our campus. We are also proud to welcome and support military-connected students and families, whose experiences and perspectives add another important dimension to our school community. At Van Raub, belonging matters. We strive to create an environment where students are known, valued, challenged, and encouraged to learn from one another. The different experiences our Roadrunners bring to school strengthen our classrooms and help prepare students to become thoughtful, respectful, and engaged members of an increasingly connected world.

Our school colors are teal and gray, and we proudly call ourselves the Roadrunners—but being a Roadrunner means much more than wearing our school colors. It means pursuing excellence while supporting one another. It means being curious, courageous, responsible, and kind. It means understanding that academic achievement and strong character go hand in hand. Our faculty and staff work in partnership with families to provide a safe, challenging, creative, and engaging learning environment where students can grow academically, socially, and personally. At Van Raub Elementary, we honor where we came from, celebrate who we are, and remain focused on where our students are going.
